Whipple’s Pancreatic Duodenectomy

Whipple's pancreaticoduodenectomy, also known as a pancreaticoduodenectomy, is a surgical procedure that involves the removal of the head of the pancreas, the duodenum (the first part of the small intestine), the gallbladder, and part of the bile duct. This procedure is typically performed as a treatment for tumors or other abnormalities in the head of pancreas or surrounding areas.

During the surgery, the surgeon makes an incision in the abdomen and carefully removes the affected parts of the pancreas, duodenum, gallbladder, and bile duct. The remaining portions of the pancreas and bile duct are then reconnected to the small intestine, allowing for the normal flow of digestive juices and bile.

Robotic Liver Surgery

Robotic liver surgery is a minimally invasive surgical technique that utilizes robotic technology to remove part of the liver or perform other liver surgeries. During the procedure, a surgeon uses a computer console to control the movements of a robotic surgical instrument, which is equipped with tiny surgical tools and a high-definition camera. The robotic arm is inserted through small incisions in the patient's abdomen, allowing the surgeon to operate with precision and accuracy.

Robotic liver surgery offers several advantages over traditional open surgery, including smaller incisions, less blood loss, reduced pain and scarring, and faster recovery times. Additionally, the 3D visualization provided by the robotic camera allows the surgeon to see the liver in greater detail, which can help reduce the risk of complications during the procedure.

Liver Resection

Liver resection, also known as hepatectomy, is a surgical procedure that involves removal of a part of the liver. The liver is the largest internal organ in the body, and it performs several vital functions, including detoxification of the blood, production of bile, and synthesis of essential proteins.

Liver resection is typically performed to remove cancerous or noncancerous tumors that are localized in one area of the liver. The procedure involves removing the affected portion of the liver to prevent the spread of cancerous cells to other parts of the body.

Liver Biospy

A liver biopsy is a procedure that involves obtaining a small piece of liver tissue, for analysis in the laboratory. Liver biopsy is done either to diagnose the cause of liver disease or determine the severity of liver disease. Patients with one of the following conditions may need a liver biopsy.

1.Fatty liver disease
2.Chronic hepatitis B or C
3.Autoimmune liver disease
4. Alcoholic liver disease
5. Individuals with unexplained abnormality of liver function tests
6. Liver mass or suspected liver cancer
7. Post liver transplant: A biopsy is done to assess the condition of the transplanted liver, diagnose rejection and disease recurrence.

Endoscopy

Endoscopy is a nonsurgical procedure used to examine a person’s digestive tract. An Endoscope is a long and thin flexible tube with a light and camera attached to it. It is inserted through the mouth (Upper Gastrointestinal Endoscopy) to examine the food-pipe, stomach and upper part of the small intestine. It enables your doctor to view the inner lining of the digestive tract on a color monitor and take pictures.
